Dessert Boxes Review: Gift Something Different!

What do you buy someone who has everything? Good question. It's a challenge that comes up three times a year in our household; his birthday, fathers day and Christmas.

Recently we came across, Dessert Boxes, a startup created by three Sydney siblings, who decided it was time to bring back the excitement of gift giving.

Born out of the frustration of the same boring gifts, that get thrown away or end up in a cupboard never to be seen again, they offer wonderful confectionery boxes, gift wrapped and delivered in the mail, anywhere in Australia.

Recently, we placed an order directly from the official website, which offers free delivery on orders over $100. For those on a budget they offer part payments with Zip and Afterpay.

What Dessert Boxes Offers?

They offer gift boxes full of desserts such as doughnuts, muffins and cakes, often accompanied by beer, coffee or lollies. The average price is around $38 to $100.

Most of the boxes are split up into categories such as:

  • For Him
  • For Her
  • Gluten Free
  • Vegan
  • For Clients.

Additionally you can buy based on a specific occasion and they've got you covered from cheeky desserts, donut bouquets, graduation and anniversary.

Much to the humour of the office, there's a few naughty boxes such as the BBC (Google it, if you're unsure), as well as the naughty nine.

They even offer the 'World's Biggest Dessert Box' which costs $299 and includes 21 donuts, 4 brownies, 5 brookies and a ton of chocolate bars, Nutella jars and confectionery.

Perfect for the office party (eh @James [Our Editor])

Dessert Boxes Review

Ultimately we went with their 'Yeah The Boys' package which combines two bottles of Corona, a few donuts, popcorn, a mini Nutella jar, 2 brookies and a rocky road chocolate bar.

There was the option to add a free personalised message for the old mans birthday, which could be added, it's entirely up to you.

There is no option to customise a specific box, unless you're buying 10 or more of the same. You can shoot their team an email if you'd like to make a change.

This cost us $79 including GST. Delivery costs $9.99 within Sydney and Wollongong, with nationwide delivery costing $15.00 and taking up to 3 working days.

It's beneficial to spend the extra $20 and get free delivery if you fall into the same situation as us but at the time of purchase the cheapest gift box was $29, for a bag of d*cks.

Sure enough 3 days later our order arrived and was well received by the old man. The two coronas went down well, along with his delicious donuts (or so I'm told).

Dessert Boxes Verdict

Some of the items on Dessert Boxes may appear a little expensive, but it's entirely up to you. After searching by price point, there's many gift boxes to suit every budget from $40 to $80.

Remember, this is a different gift idea to your usual book, DVD or gadget that probably won't get used. Bring a smile to their face as they open and dive straight in for the goods.

We enjoyed ordering from Dessert Boxes, and I would recommend this local business.
