My partner and I love Thai food, so we decided to visit most of the popular ones in Melbourne and came up with our favourites.

Tucked away in QV, Thai Town is an authentic Thai restaurant with its own mini grocery, dessert bar and liquor bar. Their seating covers over 200 patrons and they have seperate menus for lunch, dinner and supper.

The restaurant also turns into a live music venue during the night, making it the perfect place to go for an after hours meal. Their pricing is very reasonable and portions are generous, with dishes ranging from $13 - 18 on average.

Expect to find anything from fresh papaya salad, to curry, stir fry dishes and tapas during later hours. They also have a fantastic specials menu, with signature authentic Thai dishes. As they are a licensed venue, there is no need to BYO.

There is an extensive range of wines, bubbles, cocktails and cocktails for all to enjoy. Juices, softies, smoothies and coffee is also available.

Dodee Paidang opened in Melbourne since 2017, with the ambition to bring an authentic Thai street food experience to the city. They have been featured in Broadsheet, Time Out and Good Food magazines for their innovative dishes and spatial ambience.

Their venue is usually buzzing with customers. They have menus for lunch, dinner, rice and noodle dishes. You can expect to find anything from curry puffs, skewers, curries, stir fries, soups and salads.

Expect an array of seafood, lamb, pork, chicken and vegetable dishes with liberal portion sizes. Shared platters and whole fish dishes are also available. Customers can also choose their desired level of spice, from mild to extremely hot.

Prices are extremely reasonable, entrees start from $2, and meals range from $15 - 20 on average. They are fully licenced, so no need to BYO, live music plays from 9:30pm most nights.

Isan Soul is a popular Thai Restaurant on Bourke Street, they have been operating since 2018 to provide flavourful street food inspired meals to customers. Their decor is warm and colourful, with Tuktuks and Thai posters decoration the walls.

They are a child friendly venue and are also good for groups, known for their friendly and quick service. Their menu is extensive, offering everything from curry, stir fry, indulgent sea food dishes, soups and salads.

Gluten-free and vegan options are available upon request as well. They also have a range of drinks from Thai Milk Teas, Smoothies and soft drinks. Their pricing is extremely affordable, ranging from $8 - 15 for mains on average, and a bit more for specialty dishes.

Specials are also available on selected meals. They are open for lunch, dinner and late night trading as well as takeaway.

Your Thai is a beautiful restaurant right in Melbourne’s CBD. Their venue is kid friendly, and good for groups as well as smaller parties. Their menu contains an extensive list of Thai food, to satisfy your street food cravings.

Coffee, smoothies and desserts can also be made to order. Stir fries, curry puffs, satay, dumplings, noodle and rice dishes and an assortment of seafoods, meats and vegetables are available.

They are kid friendly, and licensed as well, making them great for group bookings. They aim to create an atmosphere similar to 'Ta-Rad Toe-Rung’, a place to meet and eat. They have entrees, salads, soups, curry’s, stir fries, and much more.

Their entrees are shareable, and their mains are generously portioned. Expect delightful Thai staples such as PadThai, Chicken Rice, Stir Fry, Tom Yum and Papaya Salads. They also make delightful fresh deserts for the sweet tooth’s.
